The MECDC and local businessman, Frank Weiss of Golden Creations Fine Jewelry, presented former mayor, Joyce Somers, with a custom 14K gold lapel pin which he designed and donated. The design was to symbolize Murrysville’s historical role in becoming the nation’s first commercial gas well. Mayor Somers has played an important part in incorporating the gaswell symbol into Murrysville’s official letterhead. Weiss also wanted to personally thank the mayor for over 20-years of her commitment and efforts toward building a better business community for the residents of Murrysville. Ms. Somers graciously accepted and offered thanks to all in attendance. Mayor Somers noted the importance of supporting local business and new development. Note worthy accomplishments included the planting along the center and sides of Route 22, Town square revitalization, and the many new developments throughout the municipality.
