To enhance Economic Development, the MECDC has completed the following:

  • An economic research project conducted with the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business completed April 2001 (Katz Report) submitted that the Murrysville Community had a deficiency and need for restaurants, retails, boutique, convenience, and specialty stores
  • Developed five year action plan adopted by Murrysville Council August 2001 for redevelopment revitalization in Murrysville Business District
  • Murrysville Council approved Our Town Partnership November 2003 with Murrysville Economic and Community Development Corporation to complete an Economic Analysis Master Plan
  • Develop strategies to create a Central Business District and developed a Marketing Plan to Implement
  • Assisted the Municipality with zoning and ordinance rewrites to implement quality business development
  • Our Town Partnership identified five major components to implement revitalization and development of Route 22 business corridor and to determine the feasibility of a Central Business District
  • Implement Master Plan for four miles of the Route 22 Corridor with the objective to be more traffic friendly and attractive. This is done by a beautiful highway median landscaped by the municipality in addition to other volunteers and sponsors. Also to encourage individual businesses to spruce up their properties with plants and lighting.
